Annotation |
Williams looks at the complex and paradoxical notion of the ‘non-existence of God’ in the work of Simone Weil, a subject, he says, which occupied much of her thought in the final years of her life. He begins with an exposition of this notion then goes on to offer a critical and well informed discussion of the questions, contradictions and resultant problems this notion raises in relation to other ideas central to her work, particularly those of ‘decreation’, love and necessity. |
