Osborn compares and contrasts Weil’s and her contemporary Rachel Bespaloff’s work on Homer’s Iliad. He begins with an exposition of Weil’s The Iliad or Poem of Force, paying particular attention to her discussion of power and force. In addition, he briefly looks at these themes in her essay, “Analysis of Oppression”. After presenting Bespaloff’s work, he briefly compares the two works, noting the importance of a consideration of events at the time of their writing. |
