The first three chapters provide a basic overview of Weil's thought especially on necessity, affliction (which the author translates as 'misfortune') and beauty although, almost all of Weil's central theological concepts are discussed to some degree. The final chapter offers a more critical treatment of Weil's concept of love arguing Weil's disavowal of hope and consolation lays an unnecessary burden on the Christian believer. |
