Annotation |
Springsted offers what he believes to be the element in Weil's thought, which both 'attracts and repels’, those who read her: "the sense she has of what the moral self is" (p. 12). He goes on to illustrate what he means by this through a brief examination and overview of her life, highlighting ideas of central importance in her writing including, but not limited to, affliction, love, and oppression, while defending her against those who would focus on what he describes as possibly 'unhealthy' and 'less than sensible' aspects of her thought. |
