Annotation |
Morgan begins his discussion of the relationship between science and religion by briefly summarizing the work of the late Stephen Jay Gould as found in his book Rock of Ages, paying particular attention the fact/value distinction, miracles and divine providence. He uses Weil's writing on these issues to critically reflect on Gould's work. In so doing, he presents some of Weil's more 'challenging' ideas including her view of necessity, decreation and equilibrium. Ultimately he argues, Weil has much to offer contemporary discussions of science and religion. |
