Annotation

As suggested by the title, Brown’s dissertation is an examination of Weil’s political thought, paying particular attention to how it was shaped by her understanding of love and justice. The dissertation begins with a discussion of labour, and then moves on to focus on suffering and affliction. Brown provides an in-depth discussion of Weil’s concept of justice before turning to a examination of her political thought. The dissertation concludes with a discussion of Weil’s views in relation to postmodern political thought.
