This article focuses on the French writer and critic Maurice Blanchot’s reflections on Simone Weil in his work “Affirmation (Desire, Affliction)”. The author states that a discussion of desire provides the necessary entry into Blanchot’s treatment of Weil. He goes on to argue for some significant differences between Blanchot’s and Weil’s understanding of desire, especially in relation to a theology of the transcendent. |
