Weil's thought provides a central tool for Webb's reflection on the suffering of those who have experienced the trauma of sexual abuse in childhood. The notions of affliction, attention and decreation and what Webb terms, Weil's concept of human sacredness are given particular consideration and are thus discussed at some length. Webb also defends Weil against those who might dismiss her as a 'mentally and emotionally fragile' woman. |
