Annotation

Gray outlines her struggles with the complexities and contradictions inherent in Weil's life and work paying particular attention to Weil's 'anti-Judaism', especially her ignorance or ignoring of Nazi persecution, her 'gnostic' views of the world and the body, including her own anorexia, and her troubling, or as Gray puts it 'neurotic' attitude towards the Free French movement in the final months of her life.
