Wilkes looks at Weil's and Franz Rosenzweig's reflections on the 'causes and nature' of war arguing despite Weil's fierce anti-Judaism, there are a number of parallels in their thought, although they differ in their assessment of legitimate reasons for engaging in the violence of war. Wilkes is especially interested in examining their views within a social historical context defending them against those who would see their work as idiosyncratic. |
