Annotation |
Springsted endeavors, in this introduction, to show why an understanding of Weil’s thought necessitates an in-depth understanding of her views on beauty and her use of and reflections upon language. He moves on to a brief discussion of the importance of beauty in Weil’s thought, arguing that beauty for Weil was not just important, it was essential for those who want to talk about the world well, especially in relation to the ability to speak about what he terms, the ‘larger values’ as these can only be put ‘paradoxically and poetically’ (p. 2). |
