Using Simone Weil’s contention that each religion is ‘alone true’, the author compares and contrasts the views of Weil and Paul Tillich on the subject of inter-religious dialogue. After presenting Tillich’s views on such dialogue, the author goes on to elaborate on Weil’s contention, ultimately claiming that Weil’s views on the subject of inter-religious dialogue surpass those of Tillich. The author supports this claim by arguing that Tillich’s views reduce the core of religion to generalized neutrality that is devoid of life and particularity and thus fails to engage interest in the discussion. |
