Annotation

Rozelle-Stone argues considerations of the modern problem of distractedness neglect issues of morality and agency in their discussions. Drawing on Weil's concepts of attention, the imagination and 'the need for roots', Rozelle-Stone looks at what she terms the 'institutionalization of distraction' in the modern world. In particular, she offers an in-depth analysis of the two 'poisons' identified by Weil as giving rise to uprootedness: money and education.
